Company History

history 2The original company was known as Struck & Irwin Fuel Company and was incorporated in 1947.  During the 1940's and 1950's, Struck & Irwin Fuel Company was involved in a number of different activities such as delivering coal and fuel oil to businesses and homeowners as well as distributing retail gasoline.  In the 1960's, the company expanded into various paving, pavement maintenance, fencing, and crack sealing operations.  The company's name changed to Struck & Irwin, Inc. in 1968.  During the 1970's, a division of Struck & Irwin, Inc. manufactured Madison slurry machines world-wide.

Struck & Irwin Paving, Inc. was established in 1981 as a result of a spin-off from Struck & Irwin, Inc.  Since that time, the primary company operation has been slurry surfacing.  The company also performs crack sealing, spray patching, and other forms of minor pavement patching and repair work.  In 1994, the company partnered with Alliant Energy (formerly Wisconsin Power & Light) to develop and market bottom ash at the Columbia Power Plant in Portage, Wisconsin.  In 2003, the company established another joint-venture with Alliant Energy resulting in the beneficial reuse of coal slag at the Edgewater Power Plant in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Today, Struck & Irwin Paving is a successful 2nd generation family-owned business that continues to provide quality slurry seal, micro-surfacing, crack sealing, and spray patching products.
